I am thinking of buying a water ionizer. Is it worth it?

First of all, ionizers are costly. They can cost as much as $1000 or more. Manufacturers of water ionizers claim that tap water is too acidic and that ionized or alkaline water neutralizes the acid in your bloodstream protecting you from a number of illnesses including heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes. This is pure nonsense. You don’t need to drink any kind of specialized water to balance your pH as your body does this on its own. Furthermore there is no scientific evidence that links pH levels to the diseases an ionizer claims to treat.

What a water ionizer does is already done by a water softener. If you are concerned about things in your water, a small filter-pitcher is a much much more cost effective expense.
Your body does everything it can to keep a balanced pH even if it takes things like calcium from your bones to maintain the balance, which has been known to lead to osteoporosis!
Your argument is flawed simply because the body pH will always be maintained at the cost of just about every other organ in your body!! A water ionizer cannot and will not cure you of any disease but drinking alkaline water has numerous health benefits such as lowering blood pressure by giving you excess oxygen or improving digestive problems by balancing pH.
This is technology that started off in hospitals in the east over 40 years ago and is now in 1 in 5 homes across Japan and Korea it will take time before people across the world understand the principles of alkaline water but I urge those interested to do their research and really learn for themselves!! There are some great products out there but we must be willing to do are own comprehensive learning from professionals!!
