Every time I work on my inner thigh muscles they ache for days. It becomes so hard for me to walk, sit and even cross my legs - ouch! I’m not sure if I’m doing the exercises correctly or stretching correctly. Can you offer any tips? I normally use the thigh machine.
You don’t say how often you use the thigh machine. If you only do it once a week, then you can expect to be sore because you aren’t progressively developing that area. You may be using too much weight or not stretching the right muscle groups or stretching correctly afterwards. It is important to drink water if you are having a lot of trouble with soreness or cramping. It is also going to be important for you to make sure you get enough protein in your diet to repair the muscle tissue.
The best thing to do would be to have a personal trainer set you up correctly on the machine. I recommend doing so. Also ask them which stretches would work best to loosen that area afterwards. An alternative to the thigh machine where you’re seated would be to use a machine where you are standing and using one leg at a time. When you stand, you are able to get a greater range of motion, you use the muscles a little differently and the hip flexor is not shortened.
Try it and make sure to let me know how it works for you!
